Alpha s1 Casein results

Alpha s1 Casein results

We tested our three mature does and two mature bucks for Alpha s1 Casein. We’re still educating ourselves on the what the results of the casein protein represent but are leaning towards wanting to have the higher levels. The higher the level of Alpha s1 Casein, the higher the fat content which makes for more/firmer cheese/yogurt products. However, it also makes the products more sensitive to those people that are already lactose intolerant.

RESULTS:

  • Tempo Kim: (still awaiting results)

  • Lucky*Star’s LB Fathe: A/F

  • MLRT Victoria: A/A

  • MLRT Caesar: A/F

  • Majenli HH Jericho: A/F

Our first finished Champion!

Our first finished Champion!

We are so proud of our buck, Majenli HH Jericho, who is now a finished champion as a YEARLING! He is a beautiful buck with a very gentle disposition. We can’t wait to see what his daughter’s udders look like next year.

New Buck Shelter – ShelterLogic 12′ x 12′

New Buck Shelter – ShelterLogic 12′ x 12′
New buck shelter

We assembled a new shelter for our bucks. The last shelter was too small and difficult to clean. This large Shelter Logic is almost too large. The kit fits on 12′ coral panels although we chose to use 12′ gates instead. The gates are about 10-12″ shorter than the coral panels; plus, we can utilize them later if the shelter is ever disassembled.

Round Bale Feeder

Round Bale Feeder

For years I have fed the goats hay in the pasture using a wheelbarrow and small 4′ hay feeder. We purchased a Premier Big Bale Feeder for our doe pasture and loved it so much, we also bought one for the buck pasture! This has saved me so much time and the goats waste VERY little. I highly recommend these.

UPDATE: We made a cover using a cut cattle panel covered with re-purposed vinyl (store signs).
